    Unknown Memorial, Outside Salzburg, Austria

It was night. Not only that, it was quiet. And lonely. Just the way Anna liked it. She wanted to wander around this place in silence. Her footsteps dissolved slowly into the grass as she walked easily over the grass, staring at all of the gravestones. Her fingers were running across the cold marble as she stared at the dates, which were oh so long ago, she doubted anyone she knew was even born yet back then.

She looked up at the dark blue sky, and she smirked. She had never felt so free of any feelings in a long time, and she counted the stars idly in her mind. She wore her favourite blue blouse, which was well because that night, it was chilly. Even with her blouse on, she had to warm herself up by wrapping her arms around herself. Even if it were her own arms, it felt so odd. She had no idea why. She didn't know anyone else so estranged to their own body.

Shutting her eyes, Anna wondered how she even got here. She then remembered how her mother had given her a ticket to Austria for the week, and how she had one of her father's properties to herself, complete with, for once with a butler. Most people would expect her to stick to the capital of Vienna, but Anna didn't work that way. She liked straying around, seeing what was outside of it, wondering what lay beyond the borders. Laying herself down on the grass, she tried to tune out her worries, which had been swirling in her mind.

Iris kept still as she stood by the gates of some sort of cemetery in a country that she barely knew. Sure, she liked going to places here and there. But it would be her official travel-alone time in this rather dashing country. Compare England with Austria? She'd abstain. Nothing else mattered. She can't just choose what's the greatest of all. And not to mention the story how she got there. All by herself. First time for a hundred years of wanting the opportunity.

Firstly, she was having problems with herself for the past few weeks. Just before the start of the half-term break. And she wouldn't even go back to her drinking session that went all mentally and out of control. Most horribly to herself that she can't even remember what had happened. Perhaps she was that crazy back then.

And lastly, she convinced her parents to go on her own trip of a vacation in some place other than England. Because everywhere she looked would be some reminder that she's practically depressed with no explainable reason. But after some time of arguing of the situation, she was set free for once in her life. And now, where she was seemed actually like a rehab center for her own good. Although with the looks and all, she would consider Austria as a haven of escapade. If only she can never go back.

Groaning and rubbing her forehead, Iris got up and looked around. Where the hell was she? How did she get here? She cursed under her breath at the pain she was feeling. All she could remember was getting on a plane to escape from her foster parents. She closed her eyes and flashes of getting into a fight ran through her mind, though this did not seem to be the location.

She put her hands into her dress pockets instinctively, fishing for her wand. She let out a relieved sigh and felt a tad calmer. Noticing that her satchel was lying next to her, she opened and searched it, wondering what was inside. A bottle of Firewhiskey and Butterbeer each, some chocolates, a couple of bottles of water and a tablet medicine of sorts. Seeing that it was one for headaches, she popped a pill in her mouth.

Deciding not to waste her time lying around here like a helpless, Iris walked for a few steps and then stopped abruptly. She sensed this some kind of place for the dead; she couldn't get the feeling of eeriness away from her. She almost smirked to herself and as usual, took this as a way of adventure.

As Anna kept on staring at the sky, she began to mutter to herself on things people her age wasn't supposed to mutter to herself about. She had been completely unaware that there were two others in the memorial as well. That was her problem when she was thinking, she could never seem to notice what was happening around her. In a way, she was letting her guard down, which was something she had never done too much of sober, except for when she was with... let's just say when she was with that person whose name came to her mind like a spell.

"Triage," she first muttered. She had heard the word a lot from her parents - especially her mother - recently. "A process for sorting injured people into groups based on their need for or likely benefit from immediate medical treatment. Used in hospital emergency rooms, on battlefields, and at disaster sites when limited medical resources must be allocated." Anna could think of a situation in her life when that would be needed, but it would be years in the future. "A system used to allocate a scarce commodity, such as food, only to those capable of deriving the greatest benefit from it."

Pursing her lips, Anna thought about that definition of triage. Did it apply to her? Definitely. Mostly with love and trust, which she definitely didn't have.

"A process in which things are ranked in terms of importance or priority."

She sure as hell did a lot of that.

Iris rubbed her hands on her black leather jacket, which she's wearing most of the time now since her depression issues, and pushed the huge gates wide open to let herself enter the memorial. Some place of the dead. Why was she here? Why not anywhere else besides this bumpy feeling of being scared and gazed upon those who already departed the world. Some horrible world. Good thing they don't have to witness the suffering anymore. Or maybe when they're in hell. But practically in the glorious heaven she always believed in.

The lonely girl walked around the tombs, touching the cool and smooth marble, her feet making monotonous sounds on the rather tall grass of the cemetery. She hummed a soft tune to go with the scenario and read the important facts written on the stones. Soldiers of the majority. But what was left would be just lonely people like her. Come to think of it, could she die like them sooner? Hopefully not. One thing she could only wish for is to be happy before the end of her life. Oftentimes, she would choose to die in a peaceful sleep. A situation wherein she's dreaming something elegant and marvelous. Unlike her usual nightmares.

Urgh. The opposite of dreams. Iris now has that in her mind all the time. Not to mention a certain kind that keeps going on and on almost forever. Something that deals with her being evil and murdering all these people she loved. Just like what she saw when she fainted in Occluemency. But this time, she was the suspect.

Iris felt as though she was in some sort of a trance like state, walking and wandering around with no purpose or reason. Why was she here? Why was she trying to run away? For once, couldn't she just be happy and content? Honestly speaking, in one way she was content. She probably had a lot more than most people in the world.

Her thoughts drifted to Kaitlen. At first she refused to believe that she had a sister. Least of all, a family. Though her father was dead and mother a drug addict, she mostly felt anger. Sometimes, she actually liked living on the streets. She had met some really interesting people, got an insight as to how others lived their lives and even had a few laughs along the way. In fact, those people had treated her better than her own adoptive parents.

She closed her eyes and tried to remember just how many times she had been adopted. Countless probably. She looked about and suddenly came to the conclusion that she wasn't afraid to die. After all, it's not like anyone would miss her. Except maybe Hades, she thought with a small grin and sighed. But she also knew that there were lots of things she wanted to do before she ended up in hell or heaven. She had nothing but everything to live for.

As she looked at the tombstones, all she could think was, I hope these people led their life to the fullest.

Anna was about to define the word recidivism - this time, a word she had found one day as she stared at the dictionary - when she heard footsteps. She had thought she was alone this entire time, so of course she was mad she wasn't. She wanted to be alone, away from everyone's reach. She had just had a fantastic, terrible, endless, numbered day. Oh perhaps - this was a new day? She hadn't been able to tell the time at all recently unless she looked at a clock, and even they weren't accurate sometimes.

Her head rose out of the ground, looking for the origin of the footsteps. She heard them, yet she couldn't find a silhouette of anyone, anyone at all. Then, she heard a second pair of footsteps, beating in harmony with the first pair. So there were two people in this place with her? Were they crazy people? Most likely. Anna herself was borderline insane. Hell no, she was insane. She rested her head back into the ground and turned onto her side, her smile now turning into a thin scowl.

Shutting her eyes, Anna tried not to think about those footsteps clouding her mind. She wanted to be alone, and the art of separating her body from her mind was not new to her. She can think about those two haunting words without a second thought. In fact, to prove herself right, she had began humming them in her head right then. Recidivism. Internecine. Recividism. Internecine. Recividism...

Physically, though, she had started banging the cold, hard marble, leaving her bleeding hand unnoticed.
