Some random Backwoods Town
Finland
Kallie would hate herself for it in the morning. Heck part of her already did, but to be truthful she couldn't even say how she had gotten there.
One moment she had been at her house... she had finally agreed to go talk to her father for one last time. He had said he'd cleaned up. She didn't believe him. She had given up on believing him years ago.
And yet, she had dared to hope. Dared that for one shinning moment she could maybe have.... some sort of family? Maybe just have one person to lean on when she...
But that had been a foolish thought. The man could never keep his hands off the booze for more than a few hours. He had already been pissed drunk by the time she had gotten there. Her mother had been in thier room with a "Head-ache". The older woman had suffered from "Headache"s Kallie's whole life. They were nothing more than an excuse to wallow in her own pain without actually admitting she needed help.
They both needed help. They had always needed help. But they were both too proud to admit it to themselves or anyone else.
Pride cometh before the fall.
Fun, then, how after an hour of yelling at her father in disgust, she had gone to the nearest Bar and done the exact same thing she had been yelling at him for.
"Hope you're happy now, Papa, ," she slurred in messy Finnish. It amused her greatly that she could usually speak four languages intelligably and now she could barely get out her first language, "Just like you now. Just like-"
The woman let out a delicate sounding hiccup and slammed back the rest of her god-knows-how-many-eth shot of firewhiskey. The burn didn't even bother her anymore. She banged the empty glass on the bar top and snapped her finger for more.
The barkeep, youngish looking man, who she was sure she should know.... if her brain wasn't nearly as intoxicated as it was, she'd recogize the boy who use to live down the street from her.
The problems with small towns.
"You've had enough for the night Kallie, ."
The woman frowned at the man for a moment, not quite understanding his words.
"D-don't you know who I am?" Her frown deepened, forgetting that this was a muggle town, and her name had no other meaning except for the poor girl who lost her sister too soon, and struggled to keep her shattered family together from the age of five.
"Of course Kallie. You're Kallie Nikkala the-"
" I am the Minister of-" whatever she was going to say was cut off as something was thrown past her head, missing her by an inch.
"shut up will yeah! Some of use are trying to wallow in our grief here."
Eyes flashing, and heavily under the influence, Kallie turned towards the man, and didn't take in the fact that he was twice her size, or could easily fold her into a pretzle. All she saw was a rude remark, that was getting on her nerves.
"You want to s-s-say that aga-."
The large man snorted, "At least I can hold my liqure enough to say it."
Kallie didn't wait for him to finish the statement. Before the man - or really herself - even knew what was happneing, she had dived herself towards him, and managed to knock him right off his stool.
