Returning to Normal

It had been a week - a week since she and the other women woke up in the middle of the woods. A week since they had been saved.

It felt much longer... except when it felt much less.

Sophia stood in front of the full length mirror in their bedroom. She had on a pair of jeans and her bra. Her shirt hadn't made it on, yet. Instead, she was gazing at her reflection. She was much too thin - that was certain. It would be some time before she regained the weight she had lost during her captivity. That wasn't what she was studying so intently, however.

No. Sophia's gaze was fixed upon the long scars marring her right, wrapping in thin, raised strips that part way around onto her back, chest and stomach. She lightly brushed her fingers over them. Intellectually, the Scot knew that they did not define her, but they were so unsightly that a less evolved part of her mind was not so convinced.

She drew in a shuddering breath. Things were supposed to be returning to normal...
