All I Ask of You Empty All I Ask of You

Post by Kasper Van Zandt Thu Aug 23, 2012 2:52 pm

    Random undisclosed location
Just outside of large Russian city
    December 23

Kasper fiddled with his tie nervously as he walked area for the hundredth time. Around him was the perfect picturesque winter wonderland. The ground was covered in a soft thin layer of snow, though it didn't sink through to his shoes as he walked (the wonders of magic), shortly to the left there was a frozen lake sparkling in the bright merry light. The trees, barren of their leaves were dazzling in their frozen majesty, lights strung from them to emphasise the point. And despite all this, despite the snow softly falling from the sky, that never seemed to touch him or the perfectly arranged decorations, and chairs, not a single lick of cold came near him.

It was magical - quite literally.

Everything, was perfect, and yet the man couldn't calm his nervous jitters.

    There was just so much...

Christmas was only two days away but he could hardly think about that. He was getting his gift early - the only gift he'd ever wanted.

Jumping slightly, Kasper realized that guests were going to be here soon. It was really happening.

He was going to get married.

Formal suit, tie, dress jacket, dress shoes, hair meticulously groomed - Sacha looked every part the formal, serious man that he was. It was the same mask he always showed to the world. There were little details, however, that eluded to the turmoil and frustration and heartache happening beneath the surface. His jaw was just a bit clenched; the usual warm gray of his eyes, dull; and his hand kept curling into loose, restless fists.

He was in a rather poor frame of mind for a wedding, but he had arrived, anyway. It was expected of him as Highmaster of Durmstrang and a respectable member of wizard society. Furthermore, it was the wedding of one of his staff.

The search for Alise and the others would not harmed by his absence for a couple of hours.

Approaching the groom, Sacha incline his head in acknowledgement. "Congratulations, professor."

She loved weddings. Though Juliette never planned on ever being the focal part of one, she couldn't help but be caught up in the wonder and amazement as she stared around her. Mouth gaping open, her eyes flitted from one tree to the next.

    A beautiful winter wedding.

Her gaze falling on Kasper and - was that the Durmstrang Highmaster? Eyes widening, she ran her hands down her dress nervously for the millionth time that day. Merlin, Kasper knew powerful people. But hadn't he mentioned something about being a professor in one of their conversations? Tilting her head as she thought for a moment, she shrugged it off.

Either way, the man was still here.

Carefully making her way towards them, her wedding present held underneath an arm, she gave them both identical waves with her free hand. "Hello," the former Beauxbatons student spoke softly, nodding her head in polite greeting to the Highmaster.

Turning towards Kasper, she grinned, holding out her present. "Congrats, Kas. It's your special day." Her eyes turned back to the decorations around them, "And it is a beautiful one."

Kasper, heart pounding smiled slightly at the guest who had appeared.

"Thank you, Highmaster," he inclinde his head at the man, "I don't think I ever got a chance to thank you for the job. I don't know if Lex would have accepted my directionless self if I hadn't gotten some responsibility."

He grinned at Juliette, "So glad you can make it! You look wonderful. It always surprises me how well everyone cleans up."

Her familiar bright blue eyes peered at her through the mirror. The woman in the reflection bit her wet, newly glossed lip. Her head tilted slightly, studying the real image through the glass. Lex's small hands curled around the material of the dress in little bunches, taking a moment to enjoy the soft rustling sound of it. Her lips turned upwards at the corners at the noise.

Dress. She paused a second, considering her reflection. Check.

Make up. Her blue eyes swept her features, her brow creasing into a delicate frown. Any make up she had used was minimal.
    Sort of check. She decided.

Hair. Blowing out a frustrated sigh, Lex looked up tiredly at the nest of brunette that settled on her head. She didn't exactly know what she had done to it. There were two braids in it- that much she could tell. And at the very least, it was staying upright.

She really missed her mother, sometimes.

Stepping back from the mirror slowly, she peered around one of the trees to the ceremony area. A few relatives, a few friends. It was small. Quaint.

The woman rested her forehead on the thin tree trunk, and her pale fingers gripped onto it tightly. She sucked in a shaky breath. This would be easy. Easier than breathing.

But then, as soon as you started to think about breathing, it got really complicated, and-

Not giving herself time to back out, Lex- with as much elegance as she could muster- moved to the centre of the aisle, her hands folded neatly, her gaze focused straight ahead- unseeing. This would be easy.

The Slushatel couldn't stop smiling to herself as she finally reached the place where her Head of House and Lex were going to get married. Even though she sort of knew this day would come, now that it was here, she couldn't believe it. She was extremely excited and happy for the both of them.

Besides, they make such an amazing couple.

Lora looked around the area, trying to find Professor Kas, knowing that Lex would be inside somewhere getting ready. Finally have spotted him, she made her way over, where there were others present as well.

"Good morning Professor Rusnak," she greeted her Highmaster with a small smile. Turning to Kas, she hugged him tightly and grinned. "Congratulations Professor, I can't believe you're actually getting married!" She exclaimed, then smiled sheepishly. "I'm sorry, I think I'm bit too excited."

[OOC - nothing to see here folks... nothing at all, this post is totally not three months late or anything. Just keep moving along. Moooove along.]

Kasper's heart raced for a brief moment, something almost like panic, fear raced through him. What if she didn't come, what if she decided that he wasn't worth the time. After all, he'd already screwed up once. He had promised - and meant it - that he would never do it again, but what was to keep her from believing.

What made her love a useless hack like him?

But then she stepped out of where ever she was hiding, she took the ailse and walked towards him, and then everything froze. There had never been anything more perfect in the world than this moment, than this night, than her. She was perfect, in every single way, and it didn't matter what made her love a hack like him.

The simple matter of the situation was that she did.

She did love a useless hack like him. It was in this moment, in the words she'd speak and the words he'd say back. Promises and commitments all folded into two perfectly simple words.

    I do.
