Shock Value

Tobias stood at his mothers grave, placing a bunch of Plumeria Golden Unicorn flowers down on her grave stone. These flowers are rare, hard to find and expensie to buy, plus they were once his mothers special. He smiled at the memory of handing his mother one of them when he was six, after a hunt with his father. He found it in the woods close by to his home in Romania.

He let out a deep sigh, looking at the full moon that brightened The Catacombs up. He let himself turn into the mist, starting from his feet going upwards. He misted upwards at tree height, watching for a certain figure to enter.

After all he was meeting another like himself at midnight.

Demetri had put on his best clothes for this meeting. His favourite black suit and tie along with his dress shoes that were far more comfortable than he remembered.

It was a warm night, but it didn't bother Demetri as he walked through the Catacombs searching for someone who he knew would be waiting for him.

He stopped suddenly and scanned the area. He saw no one on ground level so he looked up. When he did, he saw a figure standing...no, floating? near a tree, looking out across where he was standing.

He lifted his hand and waved, hoping to catch his attention.

Tobias misted himself down, mist covering the ground as he went near the boy. The mist raised as Tobias's figure formed from mist to flesh. His neon blue eyes looked down on the figure, his height gaining at the advantage. Even though they were in the same year, Tobias was born in September, oldest in his year. His body formed fully as the mist went inside of him, smirking at the boys shock.

"We finally meet Mr. Lancer," Tobias paused and held out his hand. "It's nice to meet one like myself in the flesh..." His emotions were genuin as he smiled again.

Demetri's eyes widened a little at seeing the boy, no older than him, turn from mist into flesh. He didn't question him, not yet, because he knew he might eventually tell him.

Gripping his hand firmly, he said, "So we do. It's a pleasure to meet you, finally." he said just as genuinely as he did. He glanced around briefly, before looking back at the boy's neon blue eyes, with his own red ones. "So, I assume you brought me HERE for a reason?" he asked gesturing to the Catacombs.

"We can always go somewhere else, if you don't feel right being here. I was just visiting my mum before hand." He said as his eyes followed the path way to her grave, now with a bunch of Plumeria Golden Unicorn flowers which she loved so much.

"Aren't you curious about our being? You must have questions at least? I can answer anything you have hopefully. My father sends his apologies, he had spmething come up out of the country." He said with a nod, smiling at the boy.

"I remember your father, I was about 5 at the time when he isted my father out of castle, he was good friends with my parents. And if I remember correctly he was a empath, a very nice to have."

Demetri shook his head. "No, no don't worry, I don't mind. My condolescences." he said respectfully.

"I am. My father never told me much, he never really like to talk about it, and then he disappeared and I haven't seen him since I was 11" he said shrugging. He thought for a moment, of a question he could ask, and then he thought of what he and Veronika had spoken about a while ago.

"Is there any way we can hunt things, people or animals, without killing them?" he asked honestly unsure. "I'm not really sure what else to ask..." he said his mind drifting a little.

Demetri ground his teeth together a little. His father had never mentioned Tobias before, or his father for that matter. "It's strange then that we haven't met before. My father never mentioned you or your family." he said as calmly as he could.

"There is always away to find someone who is lost or maybe not lost. You never know they might be close to home. There is alot of evil in this world Mr Lancer. It is a pitty, but its so damn true." Tobias sighed with truth.

"of course, theres always away not to kill someone while taking blood. I have killed, I admitt that but I also take blood from the willing with out killing them. You hae to find stregnth to stop. Take a blood drop before you start on a human, makes it hell of alot easyer to stop." Tobias said with a smirk.

"That is what I have been thinking too, strange that your father, Calavier didn't ever bring you to Count Castle. Strange, he may of had some reason." Tobias said with a distance look, looking for a answer.

Demetri sighed as well and nodded. "Yes. It is so very true." he said remebering his mother.

Demetri mulled this over in his mind, remembering when Roxanna gave him that pouch of her blood. She muct have known, Demetri realized. "I will take that into consideration next time. Thank you, Tobias, or do you prefer Mr. Count?" he asked. He knew that some people preferred being called by their first name, and some by their last. Having just met Tobias, he wasn't sure.

Eyebrows knitting together in confusion, Demetri looked up at him. "What do you mean?" he asked confused by his words.

"You can call me Tobias, seeing as..." He brock off his fore head frowing at what he was going to say. He sighed deeply, wondering how he was going to brake the news to Demetri. "At least let me call you Demetri from now on." He saod with a nod.

"Can you remember how old your dad was, is?" Tobias asked, reason behind his question. "The thing is Demetri, whatever you fathers reason was, it has come to my attention that we are related, cousins to be fact." Tobias said with a sad smile.

Demetri nodded. "Sure, if you want to." he said confused a little.

"Well, he told me he was over 900 years old..." Demetri frowned, trying to remember what his father told him. His eyes widened a little when Tobias told him this news. "Cousins?" he asked surprised.

Demetri shook his head. No he didn't have any relatives, he couldn't have his father never mentioned he had any or...had he? No, he didn't. He was sure of it.

"That's obsurd! I've never even seen you before. My father never even mentioned that I had family outside of him and my mother." he said eyebrows pulling together in a confused manner.

He looked back up at Tobias. "I'm sorry, it's just sort of strange to hear that I have relatives." he said ashamed for how he reacted.

"I am sorry that we couldn't find you sooner. After Father was tracking you down years ago, We found that your father must of placed spells on you, but after checking Durmstrangs roll sheet, your name popped up this month." Tobias said sadly, looking at the sky.

"Your father must of had a reason of not telling you about his brother and late sister-in-law. But if you want a blood relative potion to show you we are related then that can happen straight away." Tobias nodded, watching the boy.

"Anyway where do you live now? My father would very much like you to live with us. Look after you and tell you more about the family."

Demetri nodded, listening intensely. "It's alright...I still don't understand why my father would put spells on me..." he said just as sadly as Tobias, and looking down at his feet.

Demetri merely shrugged. "Whatever his reasons were, he certainly never told me. Oh, I suppose, I mean I do believe you, I can tell through the way you feel. I've inherited my father's gift." He explained looking up at Tobias. "I'm still new to it, but..." he said drifting off.

"I live at my old house, but just for the summer." he said shuddering. He hated it there. He felt too alone, and he hated being alone. Demetri looked up at the boy with happiness in his eyes. "You'd be willing to let me live with you?" he asked.

"For a reason he did though, and that's why me and my father are looking into the personal matter, we believe he's still alive. Our fathers didn't leave on the best of terms 7 years ago. Seeing as you last name in Lancer and not Count. I believe that was your mother last name." Tobias admitted to the boy in front of him. He smiled slightly, running a hand through his dark short hair.

"Interesting, reading and manipulating emotions is a dangerous, but fantastic gift to have. Very good in certain situations. My father will be able to help you with your gift, seeing as a family friend has the same gift. Normally empaths lead to find that they have the gift of dream walking." Tobias nodded smirking.

"I, on the other hand inherited my dad's gift of Hypnosis. Another so called dangerous gift, but surprisingly I found that I had two others that didn't relate really to Hypnosis, they are Misting and Vaporizing. Nifty when feeding." He showed his sharp teeth in a flash. He moved closer to his cousin, putting a hand on the smaller boy's shoulder, giving it a light squeez.

"Your family, idiot. Of course you are welcome to stay and live with us. My father will work things out at the Miistry and be you upcoming guardian if you want." He asked, his neon blue eyes showing truth.

Demetri was in slight shock. He had always believed that once his father disappeared, that he had died, or something along those lines. Since he left a few years ago, Demetri hadn't really heard from him, and didn't really care either.

"I believe Lancer was my mother's last name, yes." he said nodding and sticking his hands in his pockets.

Looking up in surprise, Demetri said, "Dream Walking? Really? I have never heard that before. I mean I know someone who has that ability, but I never knew that Empaths could do it." He smiled a little at Tobias's smirk, but said nothing.

"Wow, that is useful. Your gifts seem way cooler than mine." Demetri said laughing a little, but feeling a little jealous at the same time.

Demetri, unable to really believe what he was hearing, nodded, accepting the offer. "It would sure beat being alone in a dusty old house for two months." he said chuckling, but then turning serious again. "Thank you, Tobias." he said smiling.
