Personality: Ciar was a child of a powerful Irish family that was disappointed that she was not born a boy. As such she was pushed harder than other children her age. Forced to learn "proper" lady things before she was allowed to train Ciar made herself learn everything and anything she could. Her punishments included physical and verbal abuse as well as lengthy stays in a tiny wooden crate. She developed claustrophobia and an iron hard nature from these punishments, vowing that no one would do that to her again.

She is quite close to her little brother and worries over him constantly, though she hides it deep down. He is her biggest weakness as well as her greatest strength. Ciar would kill to protect him and anyone else she deems worthy of her loyalty. With her skills in dueling she sometimes gets overconfident and she is very self conscious when it comes to her looks.

Overall history: The Whelan's have been a prominent pureblood family in Ireland for centuries and have attended Hogwarts since the time of the Founders. The Whelan's are a proud family devoted to strong magic and have been known to dabble in all forms of magic. They have for the past few centuries kept business ties with the Curran family which evolved into a partnership of sorts. Ciar's first bout of accidental magic was at the age of three when her just born sister Fallon tore the arm off Ciar's favourite teddy bear. Ciar repaired the bear with magic and then got angry enough to use magic to rip her sister's blanket in two. As she grew up she grew quite close to her broher Zephan and even disgraced her family when she refused to let him go through the trials given to all Whelan heirs. As a result she was branded and sent to Durmstrang to learn some honour. At the same time a descendant of her family's long time partners, the Currans, sought asylum with the family. As he was a pureblood and from an honourable family Ren was taken in and sent to Durmstrang with Ciar to keep an eye on her.
