History:
Iréne's father was French and her mother British. They were both wizards and met when Madeline moved to France to live with her aunt after both her parents died in a car crash.
Iréne was named 'Iréne' after her maternal grandmother Irene, but her father wanted a more French feeling to the name so they added the 'é', instead.
Iréne started dating Henri Moreau at an early age (Beauxbatons sweethearts) but at the age nineteen she became pregnant and Henri freaked out and left her, alone and pregnant with twins. (After that Iréne grew a large dislike towards her ex-lover, but may be slightly in love with him still). An year after Magali's and Gabriel's births, Madeline (Iréne's mother) became seriously ill and died and Iréne's father, Nicolas, became reckless and got in a fight, and was killed. Iréne was then left alone to raise her children, but with the help of her brother Claude.
At the age of 25 she became Headmistress at Beauxbatons, and lives there most of the year with her two children.

Other: Iréne is very strong minded and secure, but she can have a hard time trusting people, especially when it comes to her children, who are the most precious thing to her in the world. She refuses to let them meet their father, because she doesn't trust him around them (and is slightly frightened he'd try to take them away from her). She loathes Henri and refused to let the kids be named after him, hence Gabriel and Magali have her surname instead of Henri's.

After being left by Henri, Iréne stopped believing that love really does exist for everyone and focused on loving her children instead of looking out for a husband or a boyfriend, and she hasn't dated in seven years.

Her brother (even though she might not always admit that) is her best friend. He was there to help her out after Henri left her and their parents died and through the heartbreak and all the big decisions she had to make in her life. Claude is one of the few people Iréne trusts with Gabriel and Magali (though she wouldn't leave them with him, alone, for a long time period, because she's slightly paranoid he'd take them sky-diving if he got the chance, or let them do other crazy things, which could harm them).
