Transfiguration Lesson 2 (First Years) Empty Transfiguration Lesson 2 (First Years)

Post by Vivian Hawthorne Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:23 pm

Vivian was startled to find she was the first to the classroom. Usually she was second, due to her bad habit of being late to everything. Out of appreciation for this once-in-a-lifetime achievement, Vivian sat in the front of class. Kicking her legs under the desk and humming a soft, cheery tune, she patiently waited for more people to show up. She could use the conversation and she liked meeting new people.

Made his way towards Transfiguring class, his bag over his back. And he slowly made his way there, wand in his sleeve hand. Once he entered the classroom. He slowly made his way to a sit to sit by himself. And took out a book and begun to read it. Then he looked around and saw a female. He waved to her and went back to reading His book.

Gabrielle walked into the classroom to find she was the third one there. "Thank goodness," She thought, as she had been running late to every class so far today. Sergiy was reading a book, like always, but then again, wasn't she? Vivian was also there and she gave her a big smile.

Vivian spotted Sergiy waving at her and gave small wave back, smiling slightly when he then began to read. Not that she minded, she adored reading too. Sadly, she didn't have a book at the moment. Vivian then saw Gabrielle walked in and returned the grin easily. She wanted to talk to her but then thought Sergiy might not be able to focus on reading. That wouldn't be fair and she didn't want a repeat from the potions lesson before.

Gabrielle walked over to Vivian and sat down, neatly tucking her feet under the chair. She grinned at Vivian and put a finger to her lips, pointing at Sergiy. That was one thing she had in common with him. She hated being interrupted in the middle of a good book.

Vivian smiled at Gabrielle and nodded. She knew that silence was golden. Looking back at the blank board at the front of the class, she absently twirled her wand around her fingers, curious as to what lesson they'd learn next. Vivian also wondered where Charlotte was. Last time, it had just been her and the other Ravenclaw when they had turned matches into needles. She missed the calm prescence the intelligent girl had.

He shook his head as he noticed the girl come in. And he sighed speaking."You know you lot can talk, in a nice quiet and civil manner instead of that mistake that happened in Potions. Enjoy yourselves but not to much." he said slowly waiting for them to reply to his speaking,.

She then smiled at Gabrielle and whispered, "So... how was your break, Gabby?"

Charlotte stopped at the doors of the Transfiguration classroom, panting and put her head inside the class to see if it had already started. Thankfully, it hadn't. Sergiy and Gabrielle were there, along with Vivian, but no professor yet.

Smiling, she walked in and took a seat next to Vivian and Gabrielle, still a little tired from running all the way there.

    "Hello," she greeted them.

"Hey!" She greeted her warmly. There was something about that girl that made you want to smile.

"Uneventful," Vivian said with a small sigh, flicking her wand against the desk just to see the colorful spray of sparks it sent. She really did love her wand. It was just so vibrant. She then looked back at Gabrielle with a wide grin. "But I did end up staying here. Family christmases are just too stressful for me. Still, it was very nice here. I went to lots of places."

She then sent Charlotte a brilliant smile, greeting cheerily but still quietly so as not to disturb Sergiy. "Hey there, Char. How are things? You look a bit disheveled if you don't mind me saying. Hard day, hmm?" Geniune concern showed through her voice and she peered curiously at Charlotte.

Post by Lynx Miller Fri Apr 27, 2012 8:33 am

Lynx was pleased that he had his first year class now, they all seemed very promising students they defiantely didn't fit the sterotype of the hopless first year, which Lynx was pleased to see. As he entered the class room he saw them all there, that was another thing he liked, first years were always punctual. he walked up the front of his desk and placed down his textbooks and a jar of beetles, he then turned to the class

"Good morning guys, hope your all feeling refreshed from your break and ready to learn. So last term we learnt how to turn matches into needles, well today we're going a step and learning how to transfigure beetles into buttons" Lynx then pulled a beetle out of the jar and placed it on his hand

"To cast the spell you hold your wand quite firmly and give it a nice sharp swish and say Bruchus Ipsum" the beetle then quickly transformed into a shinny navy coloured button, Lynx then walked around placing a beetle on each students desk

"Ok, once you have your beetle you can begin practicing"

"Oh, I'm fine," Charlotte told Vivian, "Just a bit tired from running all the way here, that's all."

She turned when Professor Miller walked in and wrinkled her nose at the sight of the beetles. Listening to the explanation, she nodded and moved her chair a bit back when a beetle was placed in front of her.

The Ravenclaw swished her wand a few times for practice and then, putting the wand down, repeated the words.

Nodding, she grabbed her wand again and took a deep breathe. "Bruchus Ipsum," she said, swishing her wand, but nothing happened. She tried again and again and again, only managing to make the beetle blue.

Giving up, she sighed. Seemed like Transfiguration wasn't her subject.

Vivian looked up in disgust as the beetle was placed onto her desk. It's not that she was afraid of bugs she just hated them. Though they weren't as bad as spiders so she could handle it. Besides, if she did the spell right it would be a button.

Determined to change it as soon as possible, she copied the professor's instructions as closely as she could and said clearly, "Bruchus Ipsum."

The beetle suddenly stopped crawling across her desk and shifted into a gold colored button in front of her. Vivian studied the button, picking it up and turning it around in her hand. Did it matter what color it was?

She looked over to the professor and asked meekly while holding up the button for him to see, "Umm... did I do this right?"

Lynx watched as one girl had trouble transfiguring her beetle, if he could recall correctly she had a little bit of difficulty last term, Lynx then walked over to her

"Ok Miss Minogue, I think what the problem may be is that your mumbling the incantantion a little, just practice saying it slowly a few times; Bru..Chus...Ip...Sum" Lynx then looked over at another girl she manged to transfigure the beetle on her first try he was quite impressed

Lynx walked over to inspect the button, tapping it a few times to see if it moved slightly, but it didn't "Ah quite an excellent transfiguration Miss Hawthorne. And no doesn't matter what colour the button is, in fact the more skillfully you cast the spell the better and more fancy the button" Lynx then placed the button back down on her desk and began walking around inspecting the rest of the class

He smiled as he saw his teacher his Favorite one so Far. He put his book away. He saw beetles. How he hated them. Well Insects most of that was just garbage but he hated those things. Shaking his head as he looked around the room to Professor Miller. And sighed. he had given us all a beetle. He pulled his wand. As the words that Professer Miller said clicked into his head like an automatic symbolic robot. Would remember.

He took out his wand and held it very firmly. Gave it a nice sharp Swish and barked."Bruchus Ipsum!!!!!!!!!" His mind already fully focused on making this the best thing he can ever pull out. The Bettle instantly turned into a Silver Button."I gotta say I love this class. I hope pass this class with an Outstanding." He said to himself not realizing he was speaking to himself.

"Oh good," Vivian laughed in relief as the professor assured her the color did not matter. "So... is gold a good color then? What would be the best color to prove you did the spell the best possible way?"

She then turned to see Sergiy transform his beetle on the first try too. Vivian smiled at him and commented, "Nice cast!"

Charlotte nodded and practiced saying the incantation a few times, but without much confidence. She could just feel this class was going to be trouble for her.

"Bruchus Ipsum," she said, and moved her wand. The beetle only walked a few steps towards her. A bit frightened - she hated the stupid bugs - she said the incantation in a louder, while quicker, clearer voice, "Bruchus Ipsum!"

The beetle turned into a blue color, the same blue as the Ravenclaw colors. She grinned to herself, but it didn't boost her confidence too much.

Lynx looked over at the Hufflepuff boy, he wasn't surprized that he performed the spell successfully he seemed to have a talent for Transfiguration, Lynx walked over and inspected the the buttom shaking it in his hands to see if it would gitter about but it didn't

"Well done Mr Monomyth, another excellent cast" Vivian asked what would be the best colour to prove you did the spell correctly Lynx smirked " Ah well you it depends on the person as well, but generally the rule of thumb is the fancier the button the better"

Lynx carefully observed as the other Ravenclaw girl performed the spell, she manged to do it successfully this time " There you go Miss Minogue, see with just abit more practice you'll have it down in no time" Lynx then saw that all the students had successfully done the transfiguration

"Ok excellent, everybody has cast the spell beautifully now we will learn how to transfigur it back" Lynx then pulled out his wand to demonstrate " So hold your wand firmly again then give it a quick swish in an anticlockwise direction and really imagine seeing the button returning back to its original form"

Vivian grinned at the professor and nodded in agreement. Gold was fancy, wasn't it? Maybe she had a knack for this class. It was her favorite and she seemed to be able to get the spells on the first try.

Testing this theory, she held her wand over the button and did as the professor instructed. She imagined the beetle in her head, grimacing at the image but holding it nonetheless. Almost immediately, the button shook and morphed into a beetle, its antennae twitching idly. Vivian grinned and laughed. She wasn't bad at this transfiguration! She remembered her grandmother had been an animagus, thus a natural at transfiguration, and figured that it came from her dear old grandma.

Charlotte looked at her button while the professor encouraged her and nodded, sighing. She watched as he transfigured it back into a beetle and copied the wand movement, to see if she had really gotten it.

She imagined her beetle - she had grown so used to trying to transfigure it into a button that she had started to call it her beetle, yuck - again and took a deep breath, swishing her wand in the anti-clockwise direction. For the first time, Charlotte actually managed to get it right.

Speechless, she watched as the button became a beetle. It seemed like transfiguring things back was much easier. Grimacing as the beetle started walking towards her - no one could expect the insect to stand there forever, now could they? -, she muttered a quick Wingardium Leviosa and put the beetle back in the professor's desk.

"Professor Miller," Charlotte asked, raising her hand, "Couldn't we just have used Finite to turn it back into a beetle?"

Lynx was pleased to see that all the student smange to turn the beetles back to their original form, he looked over at Charlotte who had asked him a question

"Ah well.... you could I suppose, I mean Finite works fine with simple transfiguration but when you start dealing with more complex transfigurations it will either not work or only partially transfigure back. So thats why I like to get you into good habits from the begining"

Lynx then picked up the textbook and flipped through it, then looked back up at the class " Alright, so just turn to chapter 6 and copy out all the information in the red boxes, and after you've done that we can start talking about your assignment for this term"

Vivian studiously did as the professor instructed, easily copying from the red boxes in her textbook. Finishing them, she dipped her quill back into the inkpot and swirled it around absently. She was curious to know about their 'project.' Inwardly, she was hoping it didn't involve writing. Vivian flexed her wrist at the thought and grimaced.

She then glanced down at the beetle, which was still on her desk. Vivian rolled her eyes before she easily guided the insect back to the professor's desk with Wingardium Leviosa. She then looked over at Charlotte and Sergiy to see if they had finished yet. She was eager to start the project, albeit also nervous about it.

"Oh," Charlotte said, nodding, "I see."

She copied the information in the red boxes like the Professor did, her handwritting still a bit shaky, but better. It would take some time to get used to writing with a quill and not with a pen, but she would manage.

The Ravenclaw caught Vivian's eyes and smiled, wondering about their next assignment.

He looked at the Professor he was surprised himself. That he had a talent for this. He seemed well rounded in all subjects. Well that's mostly because he was smart and knew what to do when to do. He shook his head maybe he can learn Advance Spells on transfiguration, from Professor himself something that he didn't teach others. AN Idea he must ask later.

He shook his head pointed his wand at the button and simply. Did as he was told. And transformed it into a beetle. He tossed it away. he hated Insects. So much. He sighed. And spoke."Already ahead of you Sir." he said taken ten copies of the assignment. The man seemed to have a talent for making copies, of things that were not given yet just in case. And he was a parathion freak when it came to that.
