Matt knew he was going to take his father class to prove to his father that he was done being a disappointment to him. Matt knew deep down that is what he had done to his father and he had to make it up to him some how.

Walking into the class he knew his father was going to be a little late, but that was ok things happen and come up and he would wait. He was taking all of his classes this year and was not going to mess up, he had made promises to the two most important people in his life even if they don't think they are.

Matt found a seat and just waited for other students and the class to start.

Katerina walked into class and frowned when she spotted another Hitrost. Not that she knew him, or his name, for that matter, but, while she had seen him around school, she didn't think they were in the same year.

She shrugged and took a seat, saying a small hello, before doing so.

Matt noticed another Hitrost come in, he knew this was where it was going to get hard and almost embarrassing to him. Maybe this was part of the lesson he had to learn for not doing his studies last year, and maybe this hurt worse than the disappointment his father felt.

Matt told the girl "Hello" when she had said it to him.

Making his way into the Dark Arts classroom, Sacha made his way to the front of the room, turning to face his two students. He inclined his head slightly to his son.

"This year, we will be discussing Dark objects, which you may or may not be familiar with," Sacha began the lesson without ado. "Which of you can tell me some of the major categories of objects common in the Dark Arts?"

Matt looked up when he say his father walk into the room and give him a slight nod. He had not spoken to his father since he had snuck out and got the tattoo and piercing and Matt knew he should. But now was class and Matt had to make sure he could prove to his father he was going to do better this year, or at least try.

Matt sighed when the question was asked and he had hoped that Katerina would answer but it didn't look like she would.

"Sir, there are a couple of categories that I know of" Matt sighed as he answered.

"There are cursed objects, dark magic objects." Matt answered making sure to look directly at his father and not the ground he so disparately wanted to look at.

Katerina looked up when the Highmaster walked in, explaining what they would be talking about. There were not many dark objects she knew of, so the girl had to think a little more before answering.

Nodding at the boy's answer of cursed objects, she raised her hand. "Horcruxes, sir?" she took a guess and asked, "Would they be considered as a category as well?" She supposed they would - she didn't know in what other category they would fit in, if not that one.

Sacha gave an approving nod. "Correct. Both of you," he said. "Fifteen points to Hitrost. The final category is objects used for dark purposes."

He wrote the listed categories on the board, Objects of Dark Purpose, Cursed Objects, Dark Magic Items, Horcruxes, before turning back to the two students. "That is an excellent question, Miss Kahnovich, and one we will address later in the year. Five points.

"Today," he continued, "we will be discussing objects of dark purpose. Can either of you name me some examples?"

Mattie sighed as he listened to his father talk and he was glad that at least he got the question right before but now we need to think about this question.

Looking at the list of things that were on the board and now we have objects with a dark purpose now what could that be. He was trying to decide what the differences were.

"Sir, the list could be endless couldn't it? I mean you can take something as simple as a journal and curse it to use it for a dark purpose." Matt always felt kind of stupid of his comment.

"Quite right, Mr. Rusnak," Sacha responded. "Five points. Any object can be put to dark use. Something as mundane as a book or a goblet. This illustrates the prevailing truth that Dark Arts is primarily about intent.

"There are, of course, objects which are more readily associated with the Dark Arts than others. Can either of you name me at least one such item?"

Matt really didn't want to seem like a know it all but jeez Katerina doesn't want to answer and it seemed pointless to have class if no one talked or answered question. This part did have Mattie a little stumped though, what one object was used the most, he really could not think of any one thing.

"One thing I can think of is jewelery, sir, but then I am just guessing here."

Matt only knows the jewelery can be easily passed from one person to another without thought of anything bad.

"Jewelry would certainly qualify," said Sacha, "though I was thinking more along the lines of something more overtly associated with dark arts. Human body parts, for instance.

"For you homework assignment, I wish for you each to write 6 inches on one object frequently used in dark arts that is not itself inherently dark. You are dismissed."
