    Dueling - Firsties | Lesson 3 Empty Dueling - Firsties | Lesson 3

Weaponry. That was fine. Nadia wasn't nervous at all. Her first class of the year? No, no, that wasn't a need to worry at all. They were first years, after all. Little first years, who were cute and always behaved. Or so she was told...

Nervously, she took her place at the front of the room and saw that there was no-one there. "Hmm. Cute, eennocent, well behaved first years who are late..." The young french woman thought with a half-smile. She turned and wrote on the board in her swirly writing.

Welcome, first years. Please take a seat and be quiet, the lesson will begin shortly. You will be learning the classes of weaponry and their uses. As long as you treat me with respect, I will respect you. Thank you. And yes, I am French.

"Zere," she said and sat up on the desk, waiting for the class to arrive.

Mary huffed and puffed her way up the final stairs to the classroom, realising she'd been late. For some reason, her alarm bell hadn't rung this morning, and thereby she hadn't been able to get up in time. It had been very rushed this morning, and she had to groom her hair while she ran, as well as pinning her Ravenclaw badge to the foreside of her cloak.

She paused by the door, taking in a deep breath before she continued into the room, her feet oddly weak with the exhaustion and stress that had been brought onto her. To her mild surprise though, she was the first to arrive. Wow. Guess the others forgot their alarms too, then, she decided and walked over to a free desk nearby and sat down, catching her breath. She pulled out her wand and put it on her desk, ready to learn some spells useful for Duelling.

"Goodmorning, Professor," she said, realising she'd forgotten to greet the Professor at her arrival. She wouldn't have been able to anyway, because she wouldn't have had the breath to form the words correctly, anyway. The first thing she realised about the professor, was that she looked like she wasn't from this country. Perhaps she's from one of the other schools? she asked herself, although didn't think a lot further on the question.

Alena walked into the classroom with a smile on her face, she saw a open space for this class and wanted to try it out. She walked over to the desk and looked at the young Professor, she didn't need to look at the bored. Her gist told her Everything about the Professor in front of her. So she sat down and smiled.

"Bonjour Professeur Lamoré, comment allez-vous?" She asked, might aswell use her second tongue. She loved speaking French, she hardly had the oppitunity to use it. She smirked at Swale who looked shocked. She really needs to cover up her emotions.

Mary could hardly believe it when Alena strode into this classroom as well, a clear smirk on her face before she began speaking english with the teacher. For a moment she gaped at the two, although quickly shut her mouth and regenerated a calm, emotionless look. So what if she can speak French? I know a little too, although it's hardly enough to bring up good, long sentences, she thought bitterly, hating how Alena had just found something that Mary wasn't any good at.

Her primary thought was centered towards beating her in the duels though. With any good luck, and a portion of skilled charms, I might as well take her down quicklier than she'd thought, she found herself listening to her little voice, deep within her head and she shrugged, thinking about which charms and spells that would work well on her. She wouldn't even mind casting a bogey hex either.

Raising her hand, she tried to drag attention away from Alena. "Professor, what are we going to do today?" she asked politely. Even though I don't speak French, it doesn't mean I can't be well mannered.

"Hello ladies! Welcome to your first dueling lesson," Nadia smiled warmly and hopped off the desk. "And Miss Salvin! Je suis bien, merci. Et vous?" she said. "So, two Ravenclaws... Well, zat should be excellent! I was expecteeng some Slythereens, but ah well. Lets get starteed zen?"

With a flick of her wand, Nadia erased the board and hoped that the students had had a chance to read it. "Today, girls, we will be studyeeng weaponry. Can both of you name me a piece of weaponry zat could be used in a duel?" she asked, hands behind her back as she watched the two. The lesson would be easy; the girls seemed to be very sweet. "Zere are house points available for zis."

Coraline strode over the floor, her feet landing heavily on the wooden plates that formed the floor that the classroom was made up of, and walked over to the nearest desk. She slapped her books down in front of her, chewed on a chewing gum she'd got on the train and studied the blackboard before throwing her legs up on top of her desk, crossing them and leaning backwards slightly.

Blowing a bubble with her chewing gum, she let her eyes flicker between Mary and Alena, two of the girls who probably hated her as much as she hated them. Stupid Ravenclaws. Always thinks they're the smartest and best of the whole lot. Tell you what, intelligence isn't everything, she almost wanted to yell the words out loud, although found it hard to reveal her hatred for the two girls, and why she happened to hate them so much without telling the teacher what had happened in the Forbidden Forest.

Either way, the young Slytherin stared at the teacher, her tough attitude and determined personality making her unafraid to challenge the teacher in any way. "Hey, teach! Zou no spek god engliz," she commented and smirked, dragging out her wand and twiddling it in her fingers. Points lost for her house, who cared? "So, are we going to learn something or what?" Her voice was demanding and careless, and she wanted to get started already so she could practice some very handsome hexes and charms she'd learned earlier in the week. "What about Stupefy? Or the jelly-leg jinx?" Suggestions came rambling from her mouth, even though she hardly knew the spells well enough to be able to cast them personally. She just wanted to get ahead of everyone, and become more powerful than kids many years older than herself.

Nadia felt herself twitch slightly at the arrival of the latecomer. Nonetheless, she put on a pleasant smile and turned to face the girl, feet on the desk and gum in her mouth. It took a lot of willpower not to yell at the first year, who she'd so expected to be just as seemingly innocent and sweet as the other two. Still, she kept her tone nice and calm, not wanting to get fired for yelling at a student when it was her first lesson teaching.

"Miss Conneegan, would you care to explain to ze rest of us why you are late?" she asked, standing tall in front of the desk she was sat at. "And would you mind speeteeng out ze gum? Eet ees not welcome een my classroom," she said with a polite smile. She took a step back and didn't see that either of the girls had a hand raised in answer to the question.

"Hmm. A peety eendeed... Ah well. Maybe Miss Conneegan has ze answer?" Nadia asked brightly, once again turning to the girl in the green robes. "Hmm?" she tilted her head to the side and kept her smile sweet and calm, just like she was her personality. It was going to be fine as long as she kept her head calm. "A piece of mageecal weaponry, Miss."

Ignoring the remark, Nadia walked back to her desk, heels clacking against the hard floor.

    Dueling - Firsties | Lesson 3 Empty Re: Dueling - Firsties | Lesson 3

Seeing the teacher's displeasure and frustration pleased Coraline more than normal, and she smiled slightly as she made another bubble with her chewing gum, before it burst and made a loud 'pop'. Indeed, she was pushing her limits very far, at least for a first year. She'd already went through 2 detentions, one for each term. Now that they were in the middle of their third term, she felt required to get another one to keep up her good work.

Frowning she stopped twiddling her wand in her fingers and stared at the professor, her eyes glowing of menace. "Not really. I guess I didn't want to come," she muttered and raised an eyebrow to see her reaction. "Fine," she said at the teacher's order, and spat out the gum straight at the floor, leaving it in a huddle pile.

Satisfaction was gradually growing as she seemed to have gotten away with her insult, and she thought for a while. "You've got your wand, genious. Besides, if you know the answer, why ask?" Her question lingered in the air for a moment, and she tried to make a quite mocking smirk on her face.
