Ain't That a Kick in the Head? Empty Ain't That a Kick in the Head?

Axel walked through the large double doors to the entrance hall, holding in front of him an ornate origami tree that was at one point his homework. He wasn't entirely sure how, but some pixies or something got ahold of it during his last class and cut and folded it so much he couldn't pull it apart. Oh well, he thought with a small sigh, At least it looks cool.

The boy stopped halfway to the staircase when he heard a loud mess of noise coming from one of the hallways. It was a bunch of large banging and crashing sounds, mixed in with what seemed to be screaming. After a few seconds, he realized that it was getting closer and closer. Before long, two boys with tousled hair and untucked shirts came zooming past, followed closely by a girl in a braid, "Merlin's beard, you two! I TOLD you that bouncing charm ALWAYS BACKFIRES! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!" Then they had disappeared into another hallway, leaving Axel alone again and very, very confused.

He looked back at the source of the commotion just in time to see a stampede of shoes ricocheting off the walls, and suddenly he was in the middle of them, dodging and ducking in vain as they pummeled him ferociously. One hit him in the forehead and he stumbled back against the wall, dazedly watching as they continued to pursue the other students.

Lil made her way towards the school from the lake, her hair pulled up into a high pony tail, her glasses on the bridge of her nose when she finally pushed them up with her finger to be able to see from them appropriately. Her bag was on her shoulders filled with papers that she was grading before she went for a job. Besides, if anyone decided to steal other students papers, she'd probably just pass them... or just not count them. She shrugged, her sensitive ears picking up on the yelling, she held onto her bag and made a run towards the loud sound.

Seeing the source, her godson was in the middle of group full of shoes. Quickly fishing her wand out of her bag, she pointed at the shoes.

"Immobulus!" She recited and at once, the shoes fell onto the floor. Making her way towards the young boy, she helped him a to sit up. "Boy, what did you do this time?" Lil asked with a knowing smile as she cast the ferula spell to bandage him up in the placed needed.

"You okay though?" She asked kindly.

Axel winced, his hands held above his head, as the shoes cascaded to the ground. He squinted at Lila, a little dizzy, then grinned, "Hi."

His smile quickly turned into a frown at her question. "It wasn't me!" He said, rubbing his arm as a bandage suddenly popped onto it. It took him a few moments to realize that she was joking, then he smiled again.

"I think so... my head feels a little funny, but I think I'm okay," he said finally, and pushed himself up to a standing position. "Thanks, by the way."

"Shoes didn't hit you too hard, did they?" She responded again with a smile as she held his head and stared into his eyes to check for a concussion. Upon seeing them, she didn't think he had any and finally let him go and muttered, "Wouldn't want to send you to the infirmary if I can help it."

Lila laughed and shook her head, her hand messing up Axel's hair in the process. "If it wasn't you then who was it?" The brunette's lips twisted to the side a little in attempt to tease him.

"No problem," the Professor's right arm shrugged upwards as nonchalantly as possible. "Just make sure that next time, even more solid objects are not chasing you. Hiding in a broom closest always does wonders," she stopped for a moment realising what she had said, "for appropriate reasons that include saving yourself from being hit!" She quickly added.

The boy shook his head at her question, which only managed to make him dizzier. So he had to sit still for a few moments and wait for everything to stop spinning around in his head.

He didn't catch the light-heartedness in her tone, and continued to pout indignantly, "Some boys. I... I didn't know who they were, but they weren't me." He bit his lip, trying to remember what happened, "They went... down a hallway." Axel realized just how unspecific he was being. He looked up at Lila with an apologetic smile, "Am I in trouble?"

Axel let out a childish giggle, "Okay. I'll do that the next time I'm in a stampede of shoes."

His smile faded as he remembered something he'd been wanting to ask Professor Cosgrove for a while, "Have you heard anything from my dad recently?" He looked down at the floor, "It's just that... He hasn't written me in a few weeks."
