Summer Spent in Misery

You don't just beat the daylights out of someone without a reason.

She was weak, back then. She didn't had the fortresses built around her like she did now that could fend off any angry word, no problem. Or if she did, they were not as strong as they were now.

She stared at the scar as she was naked on her mirror, and she couldn't help but blinked. She had never such an ugly thing on herself, and never had she felt any uglier than she did now.

Maybe she was an ugly person.

She shut her eyes, wiping the unshed tears away. She looked grudgingly at that strangely beautiful scar on her back, stroking it gently to avoid the stitches. Black and blue, it was, adorned with sharp, stinging needles. Sighing, she told herself that she must rise above this obstacle to new heights, but the words kept echoing in her head like some sort of crazy mantra.
