Sowing Life (Aireon and Richard)

Richard sat behind his desk, stroking a kitten softly as he waited for Aireon. Of course he knew that the image of a perfectly formed kitten would hurt Aireon, because it would make him face his failure from earlier. He sighed a little more as he lovingly nuzzled the cat.

Aireon rushed in. He was officially done for. He dreaded this moment.

"Sorry, I'm late, professor," he said. The mewing of the cat cuased those cursed images of that night to flash through his head. This is going to be along detention.

Richard looked up at Aireon silently for a few seconds before closing his eyes and gesturing at the chair in front of his desk,

"Sit Mr Thiren." he instructed as he began to pace back and forth across his window, "I trust you remember why I called you here?"

Aireon looked down. He took a deep breath to attempt to wash away the pain.

"Because I failed, sir. I was sloppy and didn't do the spell correctly, thus making a false life," he replied to the professor. His voice held no emotion.

Richard stopped pacing for a moment before nodding a little,

"Tell me Aireon..." he looked at Aireon for the first time since he entered, a piercing stare, "Have you ever heard of animals made from two or more animals?"

"You mean like hybrids or magical creatures like a hippogriff, sir? I have heard of them," Aireon replied.

"I'm guessing that this has something to do with my detention, sir."

Richard smiled faintly,

"Nothing quite so grand or as safe as a Hippogriff or Centaur." his smile faded, "I'm talking about using magic to forcibly combine two animals. A chimera."

He shrugged a little,

"Try not to think of it as a detention Mr Thireon. Think of it as a learning experience." he fixed Aireon with his hard gaze, "For you shall learn to make Chimera."
