Mad calmly finished a cup of tea in her office, an eye on the strategically placed mirror on her wall as she watched for her third years.

Within the classroom, each of tables had been laden with an assortment of weights, bricks, and leaden paperweights. Along the wall beside the vacant desk was a row of stone statues which stood about waist-high on an adult.

The woman took another sip of her tea, enjoying the serenity of her office.

Aireon walked into the classroom, and took his seat. He surveyed his surroundings. All the objects on the desk, and even the statues.

"Good morning, Professor," he said calmly.

Karma walked into the Charms classroom, her stomach rumbling. She wanted candy. She slid into a seat at an empty table and waved at Aireon, trying to ignore the hunger pains. She knew Professor Lewis was not a fan of anything that was not learning going on in her classroom, and she figured she'd have to wait for History of Magic to eat anything. It wasn't that bad, seeing as it was her next class.

She pulled off her backpack and set it on the floor next to her, noticing the things on the table and the statues on the side of the classroom. She grimaced as another bout of hunger passed through her system.

Ethan was humming a tune as he walked into the classroom. Noticing there was no prefessor that he could see and only 2 students he decided to sit next to the boy, Sytherin by his clothes.

"Hello," he said in hushed tones "My name is Ethan, nice to meet ya."

Cepheus walked happily into the Charms classroom, looking around to everyone who was in there already. Not many people, by the looks of it.

"Good morning, Professor." He said, waving his hand slightly to the front of the classroom. He turned on his heel and walked to the very back of the classroom, sitting in one of the random seats. He looked forward and saw the back of Ethie's head, but just shook his head, a smirk on his lips.

Oliver sighed in relief when he entered Charms on time. He took a seat and remembered his embarrassment from last time. He looked at the supplies in front of him and wondered what the class was going to be about.

Mad gave a very faint huff of amusement as Cepheus waved towards the mirror from the classroom. Mr. Turrow seemed a rather irrepressible boy, but he was intelligent, at least, and he had yet to cause trouble in her class.

Setting aside her empty teacup, she rose from her chair and made her way out into the classroom. She gave a brief nod to those students already present by way of greeting. Leaning against the front of her secondary desk, the professor waiting for others to arrive.

Kenzi walked into the classroom, feeling totally exhausted. She sat on the chair closest to the door, and immediately tried to straighten herself up, though her attempts were failing.

"Class had begun," Mad declared, and the classroom door closed. Standing up straight, she pointed her wand at one of the statues and hovered it so that it sat in the middle of the aisle at the front of the room.

"Now, for a volunteer," she said. "Miss Black. Bring your wand."

Levicorpus was Karma's first thought but she supposed her teacher meant a school-taught spell, so she answered "Wingardum Leviosa."

Mad inclined her head. She should have phrased her query better. Must have too much on her mind.

"That would be one way to do so," she stated, "but as we covered Hover Charms back in your first year, we shan't go over it again.

"Allow me to rephrase. Which charm, when cast upon the statue, would enable you to easily carry the statue without further aid of magic?"

"Five points for very good guesses, Miss Black, but still not what I am looking for," Mad told the girl.

She turned her attention to Oliver. "Mr. Penderghast. Which charm do you think would help Miss Black carry this statue?"

"The Locomotor spell, Professor," Oliver answered. "You have to use the spell and then the name of the object that you have a desire to move."

"Another fair guess Mr. Penderghast," Mad acknowledged, "However, the response I am looking for is the Feather-Light Charm."

She turned back to Karma. "The incantation is lumen pluma, Miss Black," she said, demonstrating the wand movement as she spoke. Mad indicated that Karma should give it a try.

Karma raised her wand and waved it, imitating Professor Lewis. "lumen pluma" she said firmly. The statue lifted about a centimeter off the ground beforw floating back to the ground.

Mad nodded slightly at Karma, then turned back towards the classroom. "Let's see if Miss Black has managed to cast the charm correctly," she announced. "Mr. Penderghast, come forward - leave your wand on your desk, you won't need it.

"Now, pick up the statue for us."

(Note: Miss Black did succeed, though, Mad's giving no indication of this. Someone step forward, please!)

Oliver stood up from his seat, leaving his wand behind and walked over to statue. He picked it up easily and was surprised at how light the whole thing weighted. It waved like... nothing actually.

"Well done, Miss Black," said Mad. She had known the girl would be able to perform the charm on the first attempt, though, others would have needed a bit of practice. "Ten points to Slytherin. You may both return to your seats."

She addressed the class as she continued. "The Feather-Light Charm is what is known as an additive charm, meaning that once it is cast on one object, anything added to said object takes on the same characteristic. So, if we were to wrap a heavy chain around this statue's neck, the statue and chain both would be able to be lifted with ease. This charm also has the benefit of being long-lasting. Cast properly, it can last almost indefinitely.

"Now, I wish for you all to start by practicing on the weights placed on your desks. Once you feel you have succeeded with casting the charm on them, you may - for points - try casting it on one of these statues. You may also, if you desire, cast the charm upon your book bags. I would suggest, however, that you remove your belongs first, unless you wish for your textbooks to blow away every time somebody walks past.

    "You may begin."

(OOC: Thanks for coming forward, Oliver. ^^)

Oliver took a seat and looked at the weights. He gripped his wand tightly and concentrated hard on the weights. He tried casting it a few times until he finally mastered the spell. He grinned to himself, proud that he was able to do it.

He was eager to be able to use it on his book bag, now he could finally put all his desired books in it and it would weigh nothing! He was also excited because he wanted to try it on one of the students.

Ethan wondered what it would be like to be weightless as he looked at his weights in front of him.

Well, he thought, I better get going, these aren't going to do it themselves.

Ethan casted his spell a few times but he figured he needed to correct how he was doing it so he kept doing it until he had finally gotten the statues to weigh nothing.
