Flying Lesson Lesson One Fifth Year Empty Flying Lesson Lesson One Fifth Year

Katie was excited. She had never thought about flying a broom before. This was a class that was never offered to her. And she was a little bit scared of height. But she wouldn't admit that to anybody. It wasn't that she was close to anybody here. But she knew that she couldn't' let her nerves get the better of her. Katie just stood there smiling, waiting for the class to start.

Evangeline walked to the field, actually feeling happy for a change. She didn't show it but the emotion was there, all the same. She liked flying the most as it was one of the lessons were you weren't boxed in, and you didn't have to feel claustrophobic.

Karma once again pulled down the hem of her shirt, annoyed with the bit of skin it showed. No matter how thankful she was that Ciar had thought of her, she may just have to slip something into her thank you letter about it.

She was broom-less once more, since she hadn't ever bought another one after she'd been hit by lightning. That felt like ages ago.

Lora ran to the Quidditch Pitch, wanting to start flying as soon as possible. She was loving Hogwarts so far and all the lessons were going great. She saw one of the Durmstrang students and went over to her. "Hey there. Katie...right?" She asked with a grin, recognizing the girl from some of her Durmstrang classes.

Katie smiled a little. She recognized this girl from her classes that she took at Durmstrang. Hogwarts was awesome, but she always would miss her home. " Hey." She couldn't think of this girl name. " Yeah that is me."

Ryan entered the field and saw there was a few students there already, he was carry his own broom and a bag filled with school brooms

"Ok guys listen up, im Professor Welsh your new Flying Professor hope you guys had a good holiday. Right so today we will be learning how to mount a broom when we're dangling underneath it holding on with our arms, obviously quite an important skill"

Ryan then summoned his broom up to demonstrate "Ok so allow your broom to hover up just above head but in reach" Ryan then jumped up and grabbed the broom "So once you've done that you then pull yourself up til your head is about level with the broom then you have to swing your body over the broom" Ryan ended up sitting on his broom, he then floated down abit and jumped off

"So let's give that a try, don't worry if you don't get it straight up it can be quite difficult pulling your body weight up"

Lora watched and listened carefully as the Professor demonstrated and once he was done, she tried to follow his instructions. She let her broom fly up and reached out for it once it was upto her level. Se tried to swing over, but ended up falling. "Damn it," she muttered under her breath and tried again. She nearly fell over once more but managed to sit on the broom. Knowing that she needed to practice a bit more, she proceeded to do it a few more times.

Karma plucked a broom from the school supply, wrinkling her nose at the make and model. These might as well be dinosaurs. She was seriously debating spending half her inheritance for an actual broom. The latest and greatest. Whatever the Bulgerian Quidditch team was using. She'd even settle for a rusty old Firebolt.

Following the Professor's instructions, she let her broom float upward, stopping it when it was just out of her reach. She'd done this move plenty of times before, as practice, rather than actually having to use it. The only time she'd fallen off a broomstick is when the broomstick in question had been hit by lightning... with her on it.

Pushing that particular memory away, she easily swung a leg up and over the broom, settling on the unsteady old thing. She debated flying a bit, to ease her mind, but that hadn't been the point of the lesson, had it?

Shrugging, she lowered herself again, so that she was hanging once more. She barely noticed that her broom had begun to float upward.

When she got herself back onto her broom, she was floating a few feet above everyones head. With a sigh, she zoomed back down lower, now officially bored.

Ryan watched as the students performed the task after a while they all go the hang of it and decided it was time to move on with the second part of the lesson

"Ok attention here, now you have mastered the basic skill at a low height its time to try it at a higher level" Ryan then looked up at the goal post " So we'll fly up to the goal post then dismount your broom so your hang by your arms them swing yourself back up"

Ryan summoned his broom into his hand and flew up to the goal posts and waited for the students, he took out his wand just incase one of them fell he would be able to slow there fall protecting them from harm
