into the dark

Katerina sighed and walked into the Dark Arts classroom, sitting down on the first seat she saw. Break had been hard for her.

She had been at the library again, and had seen a girl with her little sister. Too reminded to Yulianna, Katerina had spent the rest of the break trying to forget about those memories.

Gavril had just come back from wandering the grounds - first time he had done that since he had left the school for break. But, it was nice to be back. He strolled through the doors in the Dark Arts classroom with the usual book in hand, and his lovable hazel wand under his robes, and took a seat near the side of the apparent dimly lit chamber. He had noticed another student already there - a girl that he did not know. But decided against sitting near her.

Sacha had been going back and forth between his office and the Dark Arts classroom. As the last professor for the class had (not unlike the one before) abruptly left, he had taken over the class with the intent of teaching it himself indefinitely. For the day, however, he would have to wing it as he hadn't had the opportunity to write out a lesson plan.

Entering the room, he was greeted by a pair of second years. The man's gaze flickered to each of them, and then to the remaining empty space. "Is this all of you, then?" he queried. "No matter. We shall begin, regardless.

"In my role as professor of this class, you may address me as either Highmaster or Professor Rusnak. Either will suffice," Sacha told them. "Now, before we continue, who can tell me what you have learned in this class, so far?"

Calypso walked into the class and immediately stopped in the doorway. The Highmaster himself was taking the class. She cleared her door a bit awkwardly and said, "Um, greetings Highmaster, I apologize for being late. Please may I come in?"
She really hoped he wouldn't get angry on her first day in class.

Katerina saw the Hrabrost boy that was in a couple of her classes come in, and a few minutes later, the Highmaster showed up. She looked on with interest as, apparently, he would be teaching the class.

Raising her hand to answer his question, the Hitrost frowned. "Our professor didn't show up for our lessons, Highmaster," she explained, "We haven't learned anything this year."

"It is expected that students be able to find their way to classes on time. Next time you are tardy to my class, it will result in loss of house points." Sacha was not speaking solely to the latecomer, though, it likely seemed that he was. He did not appreciate tardiness from anyone.

"Be seated, Miss Grunwald," Sacha instructed the girl, inclining his head towards an empty desk.

A muscle twitched along Sacha's jaw, the only thing betraying his irritation. "Is that so?" he said very quietly. "Very well, then. Dark creatures: examples and why they are considered 'dark.'"

Gavril perked up as the room had received a couple more people in the period of about ten minutes. He looked down to his desk where he had absentmindedly been drawing what appeared to be something that resembled a Dementor of Azkaban. But he quickly pushed it to the back of his mind as the Highmaster asked a question, something about dark creatures.

Gavril raised his hand - unsure of whether or not he would take kindly to speaking out of term or not.
