New York ( Tessa and Afonka)

Tessa smiled, she loved being in New York. And what made it better was that she was with Afonka. She was glad that her aunt and uncle invited them to stay for the summer. Maybe it was because she never got to be around them, and Tessa was their favorite niece.

She was thinking of all the places that she wanted to take Afonka. Tessa thought of some of the sites that she would like to go visit again. She then remembered that her aunt was going to take her to a pet shop and let her pick out a dog.

It was so cool being in New York. It was so different from being Europe. The people here all had this really cool accent that Afonka couldn't stop listening to. And Tessa's aunt and uncle were so kind for letting him stay with them over the summer, though he couldn't help but miss his family ever so slightly when he saw them with Tessa.

"Hey Tess," Afonka said, walking up to her, "So, what are we going to do today?"

Tessa then started to blink. She had not even started to plan what they was going to do. They had all summer, so it wasn't like they was in a hurry. She knew that she was tired from the time difference. It only took her a couple of seconds to think of something. " Well why don't we stay here today, since we aren't used to the time difference." She was smiling.

" Then we could go out tomorrow?"

"OK," He nodded, though he had to admit that he was too energetic to be tired. He wanted to do something, but a day here wouldn't kill him. So Afonka simply nodded again, resting his head on her shoulder, "Sounds like a plan."

Tessa smiled. " I will think of something to do later, I think my aunt has something planned. I am sure she wants to take us to pet shop later." She loved how he was lying his head on her shoulders.

"Ooh, yeah, that'll be fun." He nodded, smiling at her, "Getting a dog will be awesome."

Tessa smiled. " Yeah I am excited about getting a dog, not sure what kind I want."

"I think any kind would work," He said thoughtfully, "Just as long as it's a nice dog."

Tessa laughed. " Well not any dog is going to do. I have to make sure that it would be a good guide dog."

"Right," He nodded. He had to keep remembering that she was blind. It kept slipping his mind until she mentioned it, "Well, what qualities does a guide dog need?"

Tessa blinked. " I am not really sure, but I know that I am sure the person at the pet shop will know."

"Yeah!" He nodded quickly, smiling. "'Cause that's they're job."

Tessa smiled. " Yes, it is there job to make sure that I know where I am going and don't get hurt."

"Which is a very important job." He noted, smiling up at her, "Because none of us want you to get hurt."

Tessa smiled. " Yeah, I don't want to get hurt."

Nodding against her shoulder, Afonka closed his eyes for a moment before reopening them again. "Your aunt and uncle are so nice for letting me stay here for the summer."

Tessa smiled. " Yeah they are really nice. I know they know that I don't have many friends."

"How do you not have many friends?" Afonka asked curiously, peering up at her, "Anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend."

Tessa blink, just thinking of how to tell him. " Well not all people think like you. Some people treat me different because I am blind."

"They shouldn't." He said with a shake of his head. "It's not fair. You didn't choose to blind any more than I chose to be a wizard."

Tessa smiled. " That is some people for you."

Crossing his arms, he frowned. "Some people are so mean."

Tessa sighed. " Yeah I know that."

"I'll never treat you differently." Afonka promised sincerely. "Ever."

Tessa yawned a little bit. " That is good."
